How to activate photo protection
An extra trash can on your phone prevents a wrong touch from permanently deleting photos.
What does this protection do?
An application runs in the background and holds everything that is deleted. The file doesn't disappear: it goes to a reserved area and stays there for the chosen period.
It works for photos, videos, audio files, and documents. To retrieve them, simply find the item in the list and confirm.
How to set up for the first time
The protection only applies to what is deleted after it is activated. Configure it as soon as possible.
Install it from Google Play and open the app for the first time.
Without this permission, the app cannot track deletions.
Choose what should be saved. You can limit it to photos and videos in the settings.
Something between one and four weeks balances safety and space.
This way, the system doesn't disable background protection without warning.
Saving it on your phone isn't enough
The local trash can solves the problem of accidentally deleting things. If the phone breaks, gets lost, or is stolen, it disappears along with it.
Therefore, also maintain automatic cloud backups. Together, the two layers cover most unforeseen events.
Situations that are left out
The extra trash can doesn't cover these cases:
- Photos deleted before installing the app.
- Factory restoration.
- Memory card formatted on another device.
- Deletions made within apps that don't go through the gallery.
